First of all – Velka Destna!

Trip suggestions – our picks

First of all – Velka Destna!

A charming and uncomplicated route leads from Lasówka to the Velká Deštná peak and the observation tower located on the top. The steel structure covered with larch panels is intended to resemble rain floating in the wind. The location and beauty of this unique building have been appreciated in the Czech Republic, winning several awards (including the Most Beautiful Observation Tower 2019, Award of the Nature and Landscape Protection Agency of the Czech Republic 2020). We start the trip by heading towards the church in Lasówka – on the other side of the main asphalt road we will find a gravel road leading towards the Czech Republic. We cross the bridge over Dzika Orlica and keep going straight until we reach the main road leading to Destne v Orlické Hory. We head straight up and around the bend, on the left, at the beginning of the forest road we find the blue trail marking, leading deep into the forest. We continue as the road leads (on the way, at the third turn, there is a beautiful, unmarked viewpoint on a rock, from which there is a panorama of Lasówka), in the last part turning right onto the red trail, which takes us to the top and the observation tower. The entire trip takes about 3 hours both ways, there is no need to use a car when staying overnight in Lasówka.

To Zieleniec on foot through the Czech Republic

If you want a bit more of a challenge, we recommend the Lasówka – Bedřichovka – Zieleniec – Orlica – Šerlich – Velká Deštná – Lasówka loop. The whole area is approximately 25 km long and includes 3 peaks and 2 observation towers. We also start the trip along the gravel road opposite the church in Lasówka, at the height of the Czech Bedřichovka we turn right onto the yellow trail and walk along a picturesque asphalt road, practically devoid of road traffic, because it provides access to only a few houses. At some point, the asphalt surface ends and the yellow trail turns left – we continue the trip straight, along the forest road, until we are near road 389, about 500 m before Zieleniec, which will take us to the resort. Since our goal is the Orlica peak, we have to cover the entire Zieleniec, turning onto the green trail at Kamień Rübartscha. The wonderful panorama from the observation tower on Orlica will certainly reward the effort. Next, along the red trail leading up the mountain of ski lifts, we go to Šerlich (you can also eat at the Masarykova Chata shelter located there), from where, crossing the asphalt road No. 311, we head towards Velka Deštná (another peak and a beautiful observation tower), and from there, first the red trail, and then then follow the blue trail to Bedřichovka and then Lasówka. The entire route is approximately 25 km long, it can be shortened by skipping Velka Deštná – then from Masarykova Chata we return a short distance along road 311, and then we leave the asphalt deep into the forest, onto the yellow trail.
