Spring in the Sudetes
In the lowlands it usually appears according to calendar expectations, but in the mountains you have to wait a little longer for spring. While watching for the first signs, it is worth going to Lasówka for a weekend or planning to spend Easter here to recharge your vitality with fresh mountain air or the sight of nature coming to life.
The meadows in Lasówka are the first to start turning green – the Wild Orlica Valley and the Natura 2000 area are a wealth of plant species. Traditionally, snowdrops, snowflakes and the common primrose appear here as harbingers of spring. It is the entire swathes of creamy primroses that announce every year that winter will not return to the Sudetes any time soon.
Since the weather can be surprising in spring, in addition to walking and hiking, it is worth having a few ideas for spending your free time, regardless of the capricious weather. We recommend the Kłodzko Fortress, the Srebrna Góra Fortress, the Toy Museum in Kudowa-Zdrój, and on the Czech side – the church in Neratov, castles (Nachod, Ratibořice) and Častolovice Palace, with a beautiful, historic park, zoo and mini zoo.
And if you feel like taking a little city break, remember that the beautiful capital of our southern neighbors is only 180 km from Lasówka. You can go sightseeing in your own car or decide to buy a 1-day tour with a guide and a bus ride. Usually at this time of year Prague is not as crowded as in summer.
